A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SERVICING HOME NETWORK MEDIA USING A CLASSICAL UPNP

A home network media service system using the hierarchical UPnP and a method thereof are provided to reduce the load of a local media server existing at a home and immediately provide a media service by installing a main media server that is connected with a plurality of homes and stores requested data. A user group including a plurality of homes(110) which include a home gateway(RG)(114) having set CPs(Control Points) in a hierarchical structure and a local media server(112) storing a media file, respectively. A main media server(100) is connected with the plurality of homes(110) of the user group in the hierarchical structure and stores the media file received from the homes(110). When a user requests a media file, the home gateways(114) search the requested media file from the homes(110), store a searched media file in the main media server(100), and receive the searched media file to their local media server(112) through the main media server(100), respectively.
