Flow rate and density determining sensor has a linear measuring tube (2) that has an inlet opening and an outlet opening at its ends (2A, 2B) and connected with a supporting component (3), where the component is used as an oscillator. Vibrations of the tube are coupled at the vibrations of the oscillator. The supporting component has its center of gravity at an outer side of a longitudinal axis of the tube. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating the above sensor.
