The adjustable workbench has support columns on either side. These are made up of two telescopic outer legs (1) with three sections and a two-section telescopic guide tube (60). The columns pass through the transverse ends of an H-shaped cross-bar (3) which contain pulleys for cables which cooperate with additional pulleys in the arms of a U-shaped base (12) to allow the bench to be raised and lowered.
