The device has a hand part with an oscillation motor (1), which shifts a mouth care attachment such as an attachment brush or a massage attachment, in an oscillating movement. A motor controller controls the motor and shifts the device in different operating conditions such as cleaning or massage mode or indicating mode, corresponding to resonance frequency detected by a frequency measuring device (3). An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting different operating conditions of a dental hygiene device.
