The toothbrush (10) has a voltage source (100), a micromechanical acceleration sensor (120) to detect changes of movement conditions of the toothbrush, and an evaluation unit connected with the acceleration sensor. An acceleration signal with a signal parameter is output by the sensor, and is evaluated in the evaluation unit. A signal unit e.g. illuminant or tone producing unit, is shiftable by the evaluation unit based on the signal parameter such that a signal indicating a correct and wrong usage of the brush is output. An electrical drive unit is provided to produce a drive movement.
