The vehicle heater has a combustion chamber (12) which is connected by welds (18) to a flange connector (16). A combustion pipe (14) is attached to both components by a second set of welds (20) which are inside the first set, so that the first welds are outside the pipe, reducing thermal load on them. An independent claim is included for a method for making the heater.
