The multilayer color filter (1) has a transparent substrate (10) with a first set of common surface layers (71). A thin additional layer (81) is added in the G region of the filter and a thicker additional layer (82) is added in the R region. Further common layers (72) are added, directly on top of the first layers in the B region, and on top of the additional layers in the G and R regions. The R, G and B filters are formed side-by-side on the substrate to make a color wheel. The various layers have different refractive indices.
