The method involves sampling two test signal sequences of a receiving signal sequence for given sample times to provide two teat sampled values. The test sampled values are combined with one another to provide combined test sampled values. A parameter characterizing frequency behavior of the signal sequence is determined based on difference and/or total of phase angles of the two combined test sampled values. An independent claim is also included for a communication device for processing a signal sequence including a device for estimating a frequency behavior of the signal sequence.
