The exhaust gas turbocharger with variable turbine geometry has a turbine housing (34), a bearing housing (36), guide vanes (12) pivotably installed on a guide vane carrier (10), and an adjustment ring (26) interacting with adjusting levers (24) to change the angular position of the vanes in relation to the air flow. A first slide surface (38) is formed on the bearing housing and axially guides the adjustment ring on the side facing away from the guide vane carrier. A second slide surface (44) may be formed on the turbine housing and axially guides the adjustment ring on a side facing the guide vane carrier.
