The method involves delivering a control signal by an evaluating unit (30) based on an object and penetrating the object into a protection device (4). The object with a superimposed tag is identified by a radio frequency identification device (16) before entering into a control area (46). Object information is transferred from the tag to the unit (30), where the information includes object characteristics e.g. geometrical data.
