The device has clamps (2, 3) attached at a pipe (1), and a zero-rod attached between the clamp (3) and a housing (5). One side of the rod forms an air gap with a proximity sensor (6), where a gap width of the air gap and/or an output signal of the sensor represent a measure for the temperature of a flowing media in the pipe. A downstream device (7) produces the output signal of the sensor with an integrated digital electronics. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring a liquid level in a container.
