The device has a detector comprising a hollow-cone-shaped detection area (14) for recording an approaching projectile (12), such that the area is further limited. A distance sensor is provided for controlling firing of a warhead of a defense missile based on the distance between the defense missile and the approaching projectile. An emission device is provided for transmitting a radiation (16) in spectral range of the detector.
