Process to treat effluent water arising from chemical or petrochemical plant by heat treatment and evaporation

In a process to treat effluent water arising from a chemical or petrochemical plant, the effluent water is first subject to thermal treatment resulting in evaporation of fluids within the effluent water and converting solid particles to granular or powder form. Prior to the heat treatment process the hydrocarbon content is reduced by stripping. Prior to the heat treatment, effluent water arising from a chemical process is not treated by flocculation, filtration or centrifuge. The residual solids in the waste water are salts arising from de-activated catalyst material and are present in dissolved form. The thermal treatment is applied in a granulator flow-bed, helical drier or heated mixer.
