The device has a gas supply line with striking outlets and beside the main outlets, outlets for supporting flames are provided. The covering device for the gas outlets at the hollow body is also provided. A guidance device for a bar is fitted downstream of the main outlets which can cover the main entrance opening of the gas inlet side of the outlets. The bar, lead from its guidance device, can cover more or less of the main inlet opening. The bar is made up of gas impermeable material.
