The sliding/lifting roof has a roof part that is movable by an electric motor and the method involves determining at least one reference position (2) at one or more points in the path of movement (1) of the roof part. The reference position is determined during a decrease (3) and/or an increase (4) in the revolution rate (5) of the electric motor. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting and correcting position detection errors for a sliding/lifting roof.
