The device has a sensor system for detection of appearance of a game animal (6) e.g. deer, and designed as a camera system. An interface is provided at a data output device, which provides data relevant for the evaluation of the deer pass probability. A microprocessor or digital signal processor is provided for determination of driving potential for deer pass based on the results of the sensor system and data of the data output system. The sensor system is designed as a night vision system. An independent claim is also included for a method for warning of living objects, in particular of game animals.
