Highly efficient, stable oxynitride phosphor

Phosphor of the class of oxinitridosilicates, with a cation M doped with divalent europium, and having the general formula MSi¶2¶O¶2¶N¶2¶, where M = Sr¶1-xy¶Ca¶y¶ Eu¶x¶ with 0.3 x + 0.725, with a ratio Ca / Eu 1, where the oxinitridosilicate shows emission with a dominant wavelength in the range 555 to 568 nm.
