The unit has two processors (100,101), and a switching unit by which switching can be done between two operating modes of the system. The unit is formed in such a manner that clock switching takes place with one of the processors during switching of the operating modes. One of the operating modes corresponds to a safety mode, with which two processors process same programs and/or data. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for clock switching in a microprocessor system (B) a micro processor system with a clock switching unit.
