The method involves a book shaped document (40a,40b,40c) e.g. identity card documents, whose sheets (41) have a thread sewn at the common retaining seam (42). The end (43) of the thread is essentially aligned towards the seam or at the neighboring sheet of the document. The end of the thread is warmed up and pressure is exerted on it. An independent claim is also included for the device for processing of book shaped documents.
