Method for determining the decay rate of foam on a liquid, especially beer foam in which the foam above a liquid in a bottle is monitored over a given period by optically measuring the transmission behavior of the foam and or liquid. Similar measurements are made in the lower part of the bottle or container (18) to provide a correction value for the examination of the foam. An independent claim is made for a device for measuring the rate of decay of liquid foam, especially beer foam comprising two optical sensor arrangements (26, 27) for measuring the transmission of light through the liquid.
