Power transmission unit for especially rail vehicles has combined braking and functional unit with first brake unit in form of hydrodynamic retarder and second in form of electric machine
The power transmission unit (1) for especially rail vehicles has a combined braking and functional unit (2) with a first brake unit in the form of a hydrodynamic retarder (3) and a second in the form of an electric machine (10). The hydrodynamic retarder has a rotor blade wheel (4) coupled to a power transmission element, and a stator blade wheel (5) forming a working chamber (6) filled with an operating medium. The electric machine comprises at least one rotor and a stator and is connected to a power supply source. The rotor is connected to the rotor blade wheel of the hydrodynamic retarder. An independent claim is included for a method for the optimizing of the operating mode of a power transmission unit.
