The method involves receiving a sequence of images of foot prints of tires through a transparent body (3) on which the tires roll. An image in the image sequence is selected as a reference image. A slip movement is evaluated by the comparison of an image, following the reference image, with the reference image, while a deflection of contact points of the tires with the body is determined. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for detecting the slip movement of a motor vehicle tire.
