The method involves engaging contacts (5) of a contact unit with an assembly tool and applying the contacts with adjusting surfaces on contact surfaces of the tool. The contacts are aligned in a predefined high position and the contacts are pushed through corresponding holes of a printed circuit board by the tool. The contacts are held in a fixed uniform high position with respect to the board and are soldered with the board.
