The cleaning device (1) has a cleaning medium transmission component (2) in the form of a lance equipped with at least one nozzle (3) operated by the cleaning medium. A drive (4) rotationally drives the cleaning medium transmission component independently of the cleaning medium. The drive is a motor which is programme-controlled. The nozzles are so arranged on the lance that each point of the component to be cleaned is subjected to the action of the cleaning medium. An independent claim is included for a method for the cleaning of the inner cavities (8) of a hollow component (7) by the aforesaid cleaning device.
