The method involves feeding a colloid medium of a tool (15) that is held in a spindle (13), and providing a foam and/or a bubble of the foam as the colloid medium for lubrication of the tool. A pump is externally arranged with respect to the spindle or the tool and/or gas staying under pressure is provided to dispense the foam. A surface active substance is added to the foam.
