The device has a filling head (10) with a supply unit (11) for transporting a mass flow comprising rod shaped products. The supply unit leads into a stack in an area of an orifice (12) and a storage (15) is variably formed for the adjustment of difference of inflow and outflow of the mass flow in the head. The storage is arranged partially before the orifice in a transportation direction of the mass flow.
