The method involves adjusting position of valve pin in high-pressure fluid reservoir (31) and injector (9-13), accordance with the pressure prevailing in a control chamber and which blocks a fluid flow through at least one injection port in a closed position while otherwise unblocking said fluid flow. The injector further comprises a control chamber that is hydraulically coupled to a high-pressure fluid reservoir, a piezo actuator, and a control valve which hydraulically disconnects the control chamber from a low-pressure chamber in the closed position thereof while hydraulically coupling the control chamber to the low-pressure chamber outside the closed position, the piezo actuator acting upon said control valve whereby for the reduction of the pressure in the high-pressure fluid reservoir while a control pulse such a small electricity is given, which is to be supplied to the piezo actuator that the control valve is moved out of the closed position thereof without fluid being proportioned through the injection port.An independent claim is also included for device for controlling internal combustion engine.
