The injector has a switching valve (13), and a control valve (12) including a length-adjustably arranged valve piston (50). A closing area (25.1) is connected with a high pressure line (31) that is supplied with system pressure over a hydraulic line (34). An operating area (47) assigned to a large piston surface (48.2) of a translator piston (40) is connected with a low pressure/leakage oil system in a valve position of the control valve, by the valve piston. The operating area is connected with the oil system by system pressure in another valve position of the control valve.
