The device has a magnetic system (14) including excitation coils (16, 18) that are arranged in a non-magnetic coolant reservoir (2) that is filled with a coolant with a temperature, which is low enough to sustain the excitation coils in a superconductive state. The excitation coils are produced on the basis of a ceramic high temperature-superconductor, whose critical branch temperature lies over a temperature of liquid nitrogen.
