Sorting glass ceramic materials, for recycling, uses electromagnetic or particle rays at the falling fragment flow for an interaction with the crystalline glass to identify and sort the materials
For the recycling of glass ceramic materials (303), the materials are identified and/or sorted by at least one physical interaction between crystalline glass ceramic particles and electromagnetic or particle rays which only occurs with glass ceramics. As the fragments drop in a flow (312) from the edge (310) of a sliding path (305), they are illuminated e.g. by a mercury lamp (350). The signals from the effects on glass ceramics are detected (352) to control the action of a jet beam (354), to deflect the falling fragments into sorting containers (330).
