An automatic regeneration apparatus for particle filters uses air from the compression side of a turbocharger to burn carbon particles on the filter. The air (14) is passed through a hollow shaft (31) fitted with an electrical heater (30). It then passes into a rotating distributor (4) which feeds it to some of the channels in the filter to regenerate them while exhaust (9) still flows through the remainder.
