The system has a relative sensor arrangement including measuring units, which determine the relative position of a movable object based on an absolute position of the object as determined by a local positioning radar (LPR). A kalman-preprocessor (10) provides the data from a post processor of the relative sensor arrangement along with the measurement data to an extended kalman filter during a failure of the measuring units. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining the position of a movable object.
