Production of driving part or gear by: introduction of layer forming material into hot region of high enthalpy plasma jet to give gas mixture in which layer material is completely converted to gas phase, addtition of mixture to a porous casting body (sic), production of compact top layer with forging-like properties on casting body by adiabatic cooling of gas mixture, production of defined crystal structure in top layer by heat treatment, finish machining of the coated casting body to give an aerodynamic contour.
