Contacting device has a contact unit (5), movable within a housing (3), comprising two contact areas for contacting two respective electrical conductors (101-1, 103-1). An actuation device is attached at the housing for moving the unit. The unit is arranged such that an electrical contact is produced between the unit and the conductor (101-1), by the operation of the actuation device. The electrical conductor (101-1) is inside a retaining device (4-1). The electrical conductor (103-1) is outside the housing. The contact areas are electrically connected with one another by the contact unit. An independent claim is also included for a method of connecting two electrical conductors by using the above contacting device.
