Production of components from metal/matrix composite materials where the components are formed from metal coated fibers, the fibers are in fiber bundles (1) in which the fibers are separated at a specific distance from each other, and arranged on a coil (2). At the contact point (3) with the coil the fibers bundles are coated and embedded with a thermal plasma particle stream (4) or an ion stream. The fiber bundles can comprise ceramic or metal fibers or combinations of these, and the fibers can be coated with titanium alloy or other metal alloys.
