The method is for stabilising an infilled civil engineering shaft casing where an expandable anchor (6) is placed in the infilled section (2) involves using anchor rods (9) engaging in the rock (10). The anchor rods extend through the anchor and shaft at an angle to the axis of the shaft. The infill material is stabilised adjacent to the anchor by pressurised injection of cement.
