The method for controlling milking using milking machines uses an electronic biochip module (30) to determine the content of pharmaceuticals or hormones in the milk. An alarm signal is generated if this deviates by more than a fixed amount from a reference value. Independent claims are included for: (A) milking machines fitted with the monitoring system; and (B) use of biochip modules in the method.
