The device has a ventilation pipe (2) opened at a suction tube of an internal combustion engine. A storage (8) is provided in the pipe for accommodating fuel evaporated from a fuel tank (1). An electrically operable stop valve (15) e.g. solenoid valve, is provided in the pipe (2) downstream of the tank and the storage. The valve is closable during recycling of the storage. The storage has an air ventilation pipe (10) that is opened during the recycling of the storage. An independent claim is also included for a method for ventilating a fuel tank.
