Osteogenic matrix composite (A) comprises a collagen component (I) and a non-collagen extracellular matrix (ECM) component (or its derivatives) (II). (I) Comprises non-crosslinked collagen fibrils obtained by fibrillogenesis and (II) is integrated in (I). Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of (A) by forming the collagen fibrils (I) by fibrillogenesis in the presence of previously added (II), resuspending the obtained collagen fibrils in water or a buffer system and optionally lyophilizing; (2) production of an implant or scaffold for tissue engineering, having a coating of (A), which comprises preparing resuspended (A) as above and immobilizing (A) on the implant or scaffold surface by dip-coating; (3) production of a scaffold for tissue engineering, having a coating of (A), which comprises preparing (A) by fibrillogenesis as above, where the fibrillogenesis is carried out in the scaffold to form the fibrils in situ and the fibrils are dried or allowed to remain in gel form; (4) implants or scaffolds for tissue engineering, having a coating of (A); and (5) coating solutions containing (A).
