The magnetic toy has a polygonal plate body (10) with inner space divided up inside into separate intermediate cavities which each house a movable permanent magnet. The partitions (13) run from the centre to the corners of the plate body. The partition can be formed by webs (11a,11b) coupled to one another positioned on corresponding points on the facing surfaces of the top and bottom plate parts which make up the plate. When magnets roll in the hollow intermediate cavities an attraction is produced between the magnets of adjoining plates. Several projections and holes can be provided on an outer face of each of the partitions.
