The device has a multi-axle robot unit (1) with a change mechanism (9) for collecting and/or covering display units at an end of a free arm. The mechanism is arranged in a vertically running line up to a base of the unit in a stretched condition, where the characteristic outer contour of the unit is encased with a casing. The unit has an emitter to deliver light signals. Spacer sensors are provided at the unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a device for displaying signal.
