The method involves arranging a photoreceiver at a distance from two light sources disposed adjacent to body tissue containing the body fluid. The light sources generate light of different wavelengths. An evaluation unit evaluates specific parameters to enable calibration of the transmission path between light sources and the photoreceiver. The difference between the parameters may be evaluated. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for determining at least one constituent in a body fluid.
