Test device (1) for testing an optical rain sensor (4) that is adapted to detect an amount of moisture by detected the reflection portion of a light beam. The device comprises a support device (5) in which the rain sensor is mounted and a test apparatus (7) that is arranged in the light beam in a mobile manner. The test apparatus has an area that is adapted to reflect a predetermined portion of a light beam emitted by the sensor. An independent claim is made for a method for testing an optical rain sensor.
