Predicting overload in automatic clutch in motor vehicle during slip phase, by taking actions to avoid overload based on expected energy entering clutch and/or expected temperature
The method involves determining the energy entering the clutch during a first period in the slip phase, and/or determining the current temperature of the clutch. The expected energy entering the clutch and/or the expected clutch temperature is determined based on the expected energy entering the clutch in a second period of the slip phase. Based on the expected energy and/or expected temperature, actions are taken to avoid overload.
