A gas sensor component (300) comprises a gas sensor (100) with a gas detection unit (120), a sensor connecting clamp (150) joined to an electrode (122) formed on the gas detection unit, a sleeve (130) made from an electrically insulating material and surrounding the sensor connecting clamp and a sensor cap (200) with a cap connecting clamp (210) electrically connected to he sensor connecting clamp. The cap connecting clamp has an electrically conducting part elastically pressed against the sensor connecting clamp to connect with the sensor connecting clamp and a holding part for holding the sleeve to fix the clamp connecting clamp to the sleeve. An independent claim is also included for a sensor cap used in the above arrangement.
