The method involves obtaining a reference position of an actuator depending on total current (Iges) of electrical motors, in which pulse width modulation ratio and/or revolution speed are controlled by the motors. Variation of the pulse width modulation ratio and the revolution speed is evaluated by the motors, when the variation is recorded by using the total current of the motors to determine that the actuator reaches the position. An independent claim is also included for a device for recognizing a reference position on an electromechanical actuator.
