A router bit with a surface provided with helical grooves and elevations can be used for finishing the surface of an artificial tooth or crown in a precise way, while a router bit with crosswise positioned grooves and elevations can be used for a quick preparational action. The new design of a router bit has a rear segment (2) and a tip (6, 7) provided for polishing and a central segment (3) structured for a quick removal of substance. A lateral opening (4) causes a reduction of the centrifugal forces.
