The liftgate (2) has a lowerable platform with an integrated lighting block especially in the outer edges (6) of the platform. A lighting source such as a LED is integrated in the lighting block, and is especially embedded by injection. At least two lighting blocks may be interconnected by a light guide. At least one light source is allocated to the platform, from which at least one light guide leads to the lighting block. The light guide by its end furthest from the light source is fitted in a wear-resistant plastic block. An independent claim is included for a use for at least one light guide to illuminate a liftgate preferably on a motor vehicle.
