Shut-off device shuts off a groove shaft (14) of a brush cutter in which the shaft is arranged in a housing (1) and has a blind hole (142). The housing has a tubular support (111) facing the blind hole. A spring (32) and a pin (31) are arranged in the tubular support so that the pin extends through the spring and the spring acts on the pin. Preferred Features: The pin has a flange and the end of the spring presses against this flange. A cap is formed on the end of the pin which extends from the tubular support.
