The wall strut (7) has a rod-shaped spacer (8) with first connector (10) at first end (9) for connecting the strut to the shower partition and with a second connector (13) at second end to connect with the room wall. A ball head (17) at the second end interacts with a socket (18) connected to a flange-type connector plate (12) to produce a ball joint. When the spacer reaches a predetermined position in relation to the connector plate the spacer becomes fixed in this position through fixings (21). At least one of the parts of the wall strut is made from aluminium or magnesium alloy or from a surface-tempered brass or steel.
